Sostenibilidad

We are committed to promote sustainable practices and implementing the targets set within the SDGs strengthening the links between food, people and the planet. We are implementing various initiatives to reduce food waste and develop programs to reduce the use of single-use plastics.

01. Donación de sobrantes alimentarios a ONGs

Colaboramos con en el proyecto BCN comparteix el menjar (BCN comparte los alimentos) de la ONG local Nutrición sin fronteras y con el Banco de los Alimentos, que gestionan una red de recursos alimentarios destinados a combatir la pobreza en Barcelona.

02. Compromiso social, relación con escuelas de cocina

Apoyamos varias iniciativas que ayudan a los jóvenes a mejorar la
empleabilidad, las habilidades y la confianza que necesitan para triunfar. Participamos en las iniciativas de la comunidad local, con los proyectos Cuina Justa, Espigoladors, Fundació Èxit y Melting Pot.

03. Materiales y Proximidad

Teniendo en cuenta la enorme cantidad de material que se suministra a Gastrofira cada año, nuestro compromiso es aumentar el uso de materiales compostables y reciclables.

Gastrofira has implemented a strategy to reduce single use plastic in all catering production and outlets by increasing the use of compostable and recyclable material, introducing bioplastic materials (PLA) and discarding disposable ones, replacing aluminium cans or PET bottles by glass bottles and discarding milk plastic bottles.

Coffee capsules recycling

We collect all coffee capsules at the end of the events and separate them from the rest of waste.

Plastic reduction

We have reduced the use of aluminium cans, sigle-use plastic, tetrabrik and PET bottles and favoured the use of degradable polymers (PLA)

Water

We encourage and offer the service of water distributors. The osmosis tap water avoids the use of plastic bottles

Donations

Gastrofira donates material (tables, plates, cuttlery) to local NGOs.

Oil reuse

We collaborate with a program called “Rastro solidario” that reuses frying oil for social purposes.
